His recent short films are Dharmam, Inbox, Karai, Unakagavey Piranthaen, Ward enn 325, etc. His interview with CDTV follows ~
Definitely! If audience are looking out for creative stuff in the net, they are definitely going to look out for that on the big screen too. Implementing it correctly with all the needed ingredients for a feature film would surely fetch success.
Abhinav is not only an editor but also a brilliant filmmaker. He easily visualizes 'the big picture' and that creates a level of comfort while working with him. Also in all our short films which he edited for Naalaya Iyakunar, no one ever talked about editing. I feel the reason is no one ever realized that there was something called 'editing' done in those shorts. That speaks for an editor.
» A source said that you had arguments during post-production,.. Is it so ?
Not arguments but had lengthy discussions. After all we are just beginners trying to learn something.
» Were your parents supportive for your enrollment in short film making ? At first they were not. After they started watching the show regularly, they started supporting. Now I have full support.:) | » What do you consider as the difficult part in short film making and what's your difficulty ? Finding locations and getting permissions for the same was the difficult part for me. |
» Why haven't you joined courses on media / films after your 12th ?
I didn't realize that I had an interest in filmmaking then.
1. People like to love and to be loved and expect the same in whatever they see. (or)
2. The thumbnail of a good looking girl in your youtube video.
» It it said that 'INBOX' is inspired from Signs Short films, your view ?
Yes. The play of messages between the guy and the girl is inspired from Signs short film.
» How comfortable are the female artists working for your shorts ?
They are very comfortable working because most of them are good friends of mine who have already acted in other short films.
» If you are trying to foray into film industry, what kind of films can we expect i.e commercial oriented or art based ..
I have to do films maintaining a perfect balance between both.
» Favorite short film of yours and the most difficult short film made by you ?
KARAI is my favorite because I enjoyed the most writing that script. The most difficult was Ward No.325 because we had to shoot with people who were not professional actors.
» Your suggestion to budding short film makers ? Learn. Keep learning. » Your view about "Crap" short films ? Everyone has their right to make something they like. Whether we watch it or not is up to us. | » Do you feel live recording to be good ? Definitely. Its difficult to get that liveliness when dubbed. » Do you feel that short films by engineers are better than that of viscom students ? That doesn't make any difference. If you put in your full genuine efforts then the output would be good. |
Short term - is to make a feature film and make it a hit. Long term - keep making good films.
» Your view about CDTV ..
I have read articles about many short filmmakers and technicians. This is a good platform to know each other and learn from the difficulties they faced.
» Any Special mention ..
I would like to thank my friends Maria Nirmal, Clement George and Mugunthan for being there for me always.
