Iqbal Thakur is a Short Film Maker; a sincere and uncomplicated man. Mr. Thakur deems in being straight forward and simplistic. He believes himself as being a philosopher. Living his dreams on his own path he follows the “Live and Let Live” mantra. Mr. Thakur is a very down to earth and extremely talented person. He is also a religious person and believes in living a simple and truthful lifestyle.
His creativity shows through his fabulous work and tremendous experience in various fields. After completing various degree and post graduation courses, he is a successful short film maker today. Mr. Thakur has worked as; Faculty in IT & Layout Designing, Post Graduation in Radio TV and Film Production, Specialization in Direction, worked as Freelancer Media Consultant for Print, Web & Electronic Media, Film Director, and Assistant Director in various Punjabi Music videos. Mr. Iqbal Thakur has also won award for Best Fiction for “Kafan” and Best Documentary Film for “Surajkund.”
He has also directed short film based on the issue of Child Labor; the film focused on the problems faced by children who are illiterate and have to work to survive. The movie is called “`Drishtikon` the view.”

2. Why do you make short films?
-> Mostly it is for Social Awareness, to bring out the issue and as far as for me, I love making short films so, creative satisfaction comes while I’m making it.
3. Are you a full time short film maker?
-> No, it’s a part time job. It’s my hobby, my passion.

-> Always through our own money, because it’s very difficult to get peoples trust in this industry. First you have to prove yourself only then people gain trust on you.
6. Do you gain recognition by making short films?
-> Yes of course, in the industry many critics come for the screening, the new learners and others are guests or friends of friends, who are the real audience so, if your film is good the word spreads and you become known.
7. What do you think is the emerging trend in short films?
-> Social awareness will always be there, you cannot give enough awareness in today’s world. Other than that Comedy and Drama/Suspense genre is becoming famous among today’s generation I guess.
8. What would be your suggestions to make short films better?
-> I would say keep your dedication, be as much creative, innovative and unique as you can in your short film making, don’t get discouraged easily and work hard.
