" The objective is to see short films not as a “Means to an end” but “An end in itself” "
1. It is not easy and something amazing about 1takemedia that it had been the central appeal for short film makers throughout India and now trying to be all over the world. Such a spark of intelligence , how did you get idea to start this media "1take" ?
Being closely associated and working with industry professionals we observed that there was a crying need amongst the film makers in wanting to show case their film to the world but no organised platform. We thus took it upon ourselves to provide such a platform dedicated to the Alternate genre of content.
2. What is the difficulty in running this media initially and if so at present ?
The 1st difficulty was the perception within the people about Alternate content. Though short films and documentaries are being made since decades, there are hardly any options to reach out to the mass / general audiences in an effective manner. Thus, the 1st step was to create awareness about this content, what it offers and a platform to access the same.
Over the last few years we have doggedly working on this and thanks to the internet we have been able to make available this content to the global audiences. This effort is finally paying off and now our channel on Youtube generates over 30,000 views every day.
3. Who whereall were suportive to start this genuine media ?
The belief in ourselves and the trust and confidence of film makers.
Leaving aside the financials, I believe that the greatest achievements of 1takemedia are providing a platform to aspiring, budding and professional film makers of alternate content, to show case and exhibit their work to the world, without having to spend anything but on the contrary, participating in the success of their films through our revenue share options.
5. Is there any memorable incident in your career / life , if so kindly share with us?
Particularly one incident, which pleased me, was when a film maker, whose film we were distributing on our platforms, got an offer to convert his short film into a full length feature film and the producers were willing to fund and back him up to direct this film. While the film maker deserves full credit for the content, the satisfaction of playing a small role in his success, is something else.
Our future plans are to explore and exploit as many options as possible for distributing and monetising our content, thereby encouraging film makers to make a career out of short film making. The objective is to see short films not as a “Means to an end” but “An end in itself”.
7. What's your guidelines to budding entrepreneurs of India ?
Believe in yourself, go out there and just do it. And always be true and fair in all your dealings whatever the circumstances.
Views about CDTV :
I think CDTV has really grown in terms of reach and value over the few years of its existence. Cheers to it's founder, Dhinesh Kumar for having achieved so much at such a young age!
